Victor Ceserani Lecture 2022

The UK’s Food Security and Accessibility in the Great Reset

We are thrilled to welcome Andrew Selley, CEO of Bidfood UK, Bidcorp, to deliver our keynote speech at this year's Victor Ceserani lecture. Andrew has been CEO of Bidfood UK since 2014 and sits on the global leadership Foodservice Group within Bidcorp, Bidfood’s parent company.

Food security has come into sharp focus over the last two years, fuelled by Brexit, the pandemic, and climate change. For the first time in decades, the choice we were accustomed to has given way to compromise, shortages, and rising food inflation. In the 2022 Victor Ceserani Lecture, Andrew will explore the factors at play, the challenges faced by the hospitality sector and its food supply chain, evaluate the direction the UK government and its first National Food Strategy in 75 years are taking, and recommend what we can all do to ensure that the food system delivers safe, healthy, affordable food, regardless of where people live or how much they earn.

An industry panel moderated by Professor Alexandros Paraskevas, Chair in Hospitality Management at the University of West London will then discuss the strategies and actions proposed by Andrew Selley as well as other initiatives taken by key industry stakeholders to safeguard the nation’s food security and nutrition in the Great Reset.
