Alumni is the collective term for the former students of a college, school or University. Anyone who studied at the University of West London, or any of its predecessor institutions, is counted as an alumnus (male)/alumna (female) of UWL.

As a former student at the University of West London, or any of its predecessor institutions, you are automatically considered one of our alumni and are therefore entitled to all of the alumni benefits. While you don’t need to register, it is helpful to update your details with us here, should you wish to stay in touch with the university.

The University of West London has a long and varied history. UWL gained its current name in 2010, but it’s been known by a number of others before that.

The Alumni magazine is sent out to all our alumni by post. If you would like to receive it, please update your details here to make sure they are correct.

We will also send you a quarterly newsletter, The UWL Round-Up with regular updates about the university and the wider alumni community. If you have not received this newsletter, please update your details here, or email alumni@uwl.ac.uk with your current email address.

Finally, you can expect to receive invitations to exciting UWL events, opportunities to volunteer and infrequent surveys asking for your opinion on matters pertaining to the alumni community.

Provided we have a means of contacting them, we are more than happy to pass on a message and share your contact details.

Yes! Simply apply for a free of charge alumni card by clicking here, and you will be able to use the card you receive to access general areas of the UWL campuses, alongside being able to lend out a limited amount of books from the library. Please do not try to use your old student card to access campus, as this will no longer work.

Please note, in order to maintain security, you must be in possession of a valid alumni card to access campus. To avoid disappointment, apply for a card well in advance of your visit to campus, incase there is a delay in processing your application.

Please also note that we are also unable to grant alumni card holders access to restricted areas of the UWL campuses, such as the Lady Byron Basement or Paragon Music Studios. These facilities are unfortunately for currently studying students only.

Once you graduate, your student email is discontinued and we are unable to grant access to any content contained there. If you need to access important documents relating to your degree, such as copies of your dissertation, we advise you contact the administrators at your particular school. Please be advised that it is not always possible to retrieve files once accounts have been deactivated.

With a valid alumni card, you are entitled to continued access to the alumni campus, including the library. Alumni are welcome to use the library as a quiet and convenient study space, and are entitled to take out up to three books on loan. You can apply for an alumni card for free by clicking here.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer access to e-resources, as these are exclusively for current students and staff. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Former students of the University of West London and its predecessor institutions can request replacement certificates, new copies of transcripts, syllabi, and verification of education letters or academic references via the Conferments and Awards Office.

They can be emailed on transcripts@uwl.ac.uk , or click here for more information.

We run a wide-range of events at the University of West London, from inspiring talks by prominent alumni to in-person networking dinners and cocktail receptions. While some of these events are the results of volunteering and can be offered for free, others may include food or entertainment and thus incur charges. Our events are run as a hybrid between online and in-person occasions. To find out more about upcoming events, please click here.
