Alumni of the University of West London or one of its predecessor institutions are eligible for nomination 

The following are all predecessor institutions of UWL: Berkshire College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ealing College of Higher Education, Ealing Technical College, Acton Hotel and Catering School, Ealing Technical Institute and School of Art, Ealing Technical Institute and School of Art and Crafts, London College of Music, North West Thames Regional Health Authority's AIDS Unit, Northwick Park School of Nursing, Polytechnic of West London, Queen Charlotte’s College of Health Studies, Reading College and School of Art & Design, Riverside College of Nursing, Thames Valley College of Higher Education, Polytechnic of West London, Thames Valley University.

• Members of the Alumni Board
• Members of the awards selection panel
• Politicians who hold an elective office
• Current employees of the University
• Current members of the Board of Governors
• Honorary graduates of the University

Anyone except for members of the Awards Selection Panel can nominate. You can either nominate yourself, or someone you think deserves the award. If not yourself, then the person you nominate should ideally be personally known to you. The nomination form must be completed in full.  

Nominations will be open until 11.59pm GMT on Thursday 7 August 2025. 

There are three categories that you can nominate an alumnus/a for:

Recent Graduate Award

The Recent Graduate Award recognises evidence of significant career achievement, or positive impact on a field of endeavour or community cause within five years of graduation from University of West London (since 2018). This award recognises those who have the potential to reach the highest levels of success in the future.

In selecting the Recent Graduate Award, the selection panel will consider the following:

• Early career impact on sector/industry.
• Demonstrable achievement in field of expertise.
• International experience and impact.
• Role model behaviours/ highest standards of industry practice.

The Inspirational Alumni Award

The Inspirational Alumni Award recognises evidence of significant career achievement, or positive impact on a field of endeavour or community cause for anyone who graduated before 2018 from the University of West London. This award recognises those who have reached the highest levels of success in the future.

In selecting the Inspirational Alumni Award, the selection panel will consider the following:

• Sustained professional achievement at the highest levels
• Demonstrable achievement and impact in field of expertise or sector
• International experience and impact.
• Role model behaviours/ highest standards of industry practice.
• Contributions to charitable or community organisations
• Creativity and innovation

Alumni Social Action Award

The Alumni Social Action Award recognises alumni who are working to enact positive change in their local or global communities, showing care and dedication towards others either through their business or personal practices.

In selecting the Alumni Social Action Award, the selection panel will consider the following:

• Demonstrable commitment to social causes.
• Awareness of social issues and concerns.
• Role model behaviours/highest standards of practice.
• Innovation of social action ideas and practices.
• Level of contribution to local community.
• Demonstrable impact and achievement in the field of social action.
• Instances of going above and beyond in order to help others.

The Alumni Award winners will be announced at our Alumni Evening, in October 2025. Winners will be invited to attend the event and will receive a trophy. The award winners will be celebrated through stories on UWL and Alumni web pages, social media, email and the Alumni magazine.
